Moon Flower feels like a tiny garden growing over a crescent moon.

That little garden is built piece by piece.

I laser-cut the crescent from 2 mm American linden wood and treat the wood with linseed oil for protection before painting. The floral elements are created separately, then carefully hand-painted and layered over deep green engraved leaves. Bright yellow and warm orange flowers add dimension and color, giving the front of the design a sculptural feel rather than the look of a flat painted pattern.

The reverse is intentionally simpler, showing the warm orange crescent without the layered floral composition. This contrast lets the dimensional garden remain the focus on the front while still giving the back a clean, finished appearance when the earrings turn.

Beneath each moon, two small green leaves hang freely.

Unlike the layered floral elements above them, these leaves are designed to move independently as you walk. They are finished on both sides, so their engraved green detail remains visible as they sway and turn.

That combination of fixed layers, a simpler reverse, and moving leaves is what gives Moon Flower its character.

At approximately 2 inches including the hook, the earrings have plenty of visual detail without needing to be large. The 2 mm American linden wood keeps the construction lightweight, allowing the layered flowers and moving leaves to create presence without the heavy pull often associated with dimensional statement earrings.

Hypoallergenic bronze-tone hooks provide a more comfortable option for ears that may be sensitive to some metals.

The natural wood grain, engraved details, layered construction, and hand-painted finish are all allowed to remain part of the design rather than being hidden beneath a perfectly uniform surface.

There is a little bit of contrast everywhere in this pair: flowers against a moon, bright color against deep green, a detailed front against a simpler reverse, and pieces that stay still beside pieces that move. Somehow, they all belong together.

Outfit idea: Pair them with a muted denim-blue or dusty indigo top, warm tan trousers, and simple bronze-tone accessories. The cooler blue gives the yellow, orange, green, and red tones room to stand out without making the outfit feel overly coordinated. For a softer look, try a warm oatmeal top with medium-wash denim.
